For many years, The Skating Club of Boston worked diligently to find a suitable location for its expansion, ultimately choosing an ideal location at 750 University Avenue in Norwood, Massachusetts. The site of the Club’s future home offers sufficient space for a three-rink facility, plenty of parking and substantial room for the facility’s planned future expansion. It is also conveniently accessible via Rt. 128, Rt. 1, I-95 and located near the shops and service along Rt. 1 and the new University Station and Legacy Place mixed-use developments.
The Club is excited to become part of the Norwood community and plans to grow the influence of figure skating in surrounding towns, while continuing to serve the greater Boston Metro area.
For Norwood, the Club brings a new rink to Norwood’s high school hockey team, a dynamic Learn to Skate program, tourism revenue, the promise of exciting competitive skating events, and a more than 100-year history of excellence in figure skating. For the Club, Norwood offers a welcoming community, a love of sports, multiple transportation options, nearby shopping and restaurants, beautiful natural land adjacent to the new facility, and of course, ample land on which to construct the new, three-rink facility.
“It’s not only beneficial for The Skating Club of Boston. It’s also beneficial for the Town of Norwood. It’s an economic engine for us.” – Paul Bishop, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen
